Square Enix have stopped selling the new Mac version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, the MMO we found so delectable on Windows. Buyers have complained that it’s been running rather badly on their systems, and the publisher agrees – offering refunds and apologies.
“I believe that the biggest problem with the Mac version release was the significant discrepancy between the performance of the product our development team produced and the expectations our customers had for it,” wrote Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida on Friday.
Simply put, Square Enix’s system requirements didn’t reflect the game players tried to boot up on their Macs on June 23rd. The Final Fantasy XIV team had been working to improve the client’s performance right up until release, and so held back minimum requirements until they were certain the details wouldn’t change.
Several versions of the requirements were prepped – but in the chaos leading up to the release of Heavensward, Squeenix accidentally released the wrong one, featuring old specs.

Apr 24, 2014 Even though the graphics card has 2 fans, I added an external fan to the back of my mac to increase the air flow. When the graphics card goes to full power, the Mac becomes a room heater. So, the Mac Client works quite awesome, either full screen or in a window.
“I sincerely apologize to you all,” said Yoshida. “Had we provided accurate information beforehand, I know many of you would not have purchased the Mac version, which is why we decided to offer full refunds.”
The error was compounded by a “great many mistakes” – including a miscommunication with retailers that saw some players download a buggier pre-release build before Squeenix had finished their maintenance.
An announcement is coming with comprehensive information on the Mac version’s requirements and screen resolution. Only then, when would-be players are “adequately informed”, will the game return to sale. Refunds are available through the stores on which the game was purchased.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn for Mac was released on June 23, along with the game’s first major expansion, Heavensward.
These were great news for Mac gamers, who would finally get to play a Final Fantasy game without having to use Bootcamp. Plus, by all accounts, Heavensward was good enough to easily earn a spot among the top MMORPGs for Mac. But things aren’t going according to plan though…
Gamers all over the net are complaining about the game’s terrible performance under OS X. Some even claim that the port’s abysmal performance is a joke. Because of the many bugs, glitches, and poor frame rates, many call the MacOS version unplayable. Uninstall bomgar jump client.
Considering how everyone from Reddit to the game’s official forums agrees, I only have one message for you: Don’t buy this game.
Final Fantasy 14 is a Wine-wrapped version of the Windows PC version. This often means lesser performance than native ports, but a properly made Wine-wrapper can be reliable and fast. Smb client for linux. That is unfortunately not the case here.

There’s a chance that Transgaming will eventually improve it, but don’t hold your breath, and especially don’t waste your money on a buggy port just yet. It’s my duty to insist on this. If you’re in need of an urgent MMO fix, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2 or The Elder Scrolls Online should do the trick.

Final Fantasy 14 on Mac: Everything you need to know
Mac Client For League Of Legends
Heavensward was released by developer Square Enix on June 23, on PC, PS3, PS4, and MacOS.
It’s interesting to note that the original Final Fantasy XIV (released in September 2010) was very poorly received. As a result, development of the title was taken over by a brand-new team, led by Yoshida. His team was responsible for generating content for the original version, as well as developing a brand new game to make up for the poor previous release. That new game was Final Fantasy 4: A Realm Reborn, which featured a new engine, improved server structures, revamped gameplay and interface, and a new story.
Real Reborn was also known as Version 2.0, and now Yoshida’s team is taking things further with Heavensward, the game’s first Expansion.
Heavensward features massive areas, much larger than before. Everything has been scaled up, giving players more room to explore. The Expansion also raises the level cap from 50 to 60, adds new high-level gear, introduces flying mounts and a new race too: The Au Ra, a tall, stern people with tan or blue skin, horns growing from the side of their heads and patches of scales dotting their skin.
Heavensward also introduces three new job classes: a tank class dark knight, a healing class astrologian, and a gun-wielding ranged attacker the machinist.
Final Fantasy 14: Heavensward was released on June 23.
